Social life at Cornelius House happens naturally, and is a matter of
individual choice. People are encouraged to lead their daily lives to suit their own needs, as far
as is reasonably possible.
By and large, residents have the freedom to come and go from the Home to socialise and maintain their
cultural interests, and to eat out, or arrange late meals when they return. Their visitors are always
welcome into the Home at any time, and residents are able to offer them tea/coffee during their stay,
as they would do in their own homes.
The Home does not organise regular entertainment sessions as such, preferring instead to hold exercise
classes with music every week, occasional indoor events as dictated by residents' tastes, and
an annual garden party for residents and their guests.
West Sussex County Library Service maintains a well stocked library in the Home, including large print
books, and individual requests for books can be catered for.
Daily newspapers, up-to-date magazines and periodicals are always available in the public
rooms for all to enjoy, and individual newspaper accounts can also be arranged. A large selection
of indoor games is also available for residents' use. Arrangements can also be made for residents
to continue hobbies of their choice. Internet access and email capacity is available in the day room. |
